Herb ‘n Organics GIVEAWAY!!! UPDATE: NOW CLOSED

I am always on the lookout for new (and exciting!) cleaning products to try.  I am always hoping a new chemical, scent, or method will help perk up an admittedly dull job.  There have been many hits or misses through the years, but a local company I recently discovered has not disappointed:  Herb ‘n Organics is an Arizona-based company specializing in efficient products that are safe for you, your family, and the environment.  I had been using the Orange Furniture Frappe for months on all my wood furniture, and all the leather in my house- furniture, purses, shoes, EVERYTHING!  I was not happy to realize that I was about to run out of it just this weekend while preparing to have 11 adults for Sunday Brunch!

I have also recently begun to use the Peppermint Power cleansing powder, and my shower has not looked this good in a long time!  I noticed that, instead of my hands feeling dry and irritated as they often are after using scouring powders, that the salt and oil made my hands feel very soft.

Candice and Diann have generously offered 2 canisters of Peppermint Power to 2 lucky blog readers!  In addition, the first 10 people to order from Herb’nOrganics through April, using the code ‘Jenna’ will receive 20% off their order!

To have a chance to win the Peppermint Power, just leave a comment on this post before Friday, March 19.  Please share your LEAST favorite room to clean to be entered in the drawing.  Thanks for playing, and a BIG ‘Thank You’ to Diann and Candice for being willing to share their great product!

‘Post’ Script

Every time I go to pick out cards for a birthday or event I think to myself- “I have $14 billion (US) worth of craft supplies at home, I should be MAKING a card instead of spending ANOTHER $3.50 on this tacky card!”  And yet, I rarely do.  Why?  I have purchased card kits that contain 50 colored cards and 50 envelopes for under $10, the ‘Mom’ card above is simply a standard envelope and folded paper.  Easy!  They don’t even have to be fancy- just a monogramed initial from Grungepaper alphabets and a contrasting ‘stripe’ of paper, and you’re good to go in the amount of time it takes to run to the store!  Do me a favor- the next time you receive a store-bought card from me, pop me over the head with it!

Cards have been on our ‘to-do’ list at Mystic Paper the last 2 months, and it has (admittedly) been a challenge, but very fun as well.  The letters are all Grungeboard mini-alphabets, and the papers are Jenni Bowlin!   I used Distress inks on all the letters, as well as along the edges of the ‘Thanks’ card and the die-cut flowers.  Each of the tulips is edged with Gold flecks!  I have used this application in a couple of different ways- The ‘strap’ around the card is a thin strip of Grungepaper.  Kind of fun!

All of the supplies are available at Mystic Paper.  There is always something fun to discover, they also have a ton of great classes coming up!

Due to illness and Discovery Brunch I have postponed the Giveaway, but it will begin this Monday, and continue through Friday!  Don’t miss it!

Noah’s page

Here is my layout for March design Team.  It was such a treat using the Grungeboard, as well as the Jenni Bowlin papers.  The Grungeboard Element circles and the stars from the paper were an exact fit, and in real life you can really see the Harlequin pattern of the Grungeboard through the paper.  The giant ‘N’, as well as the letters in Noah’s name are all Grungeboard, colored with Distress Inks.

These pictures were taken on our vacation last month.  I can’t believe my little boy is getting so big.  My little ‘Miracle Baby’ will be 5 this June!  He is in preschool and soccer, and we are planning on doing ‘half-Kindergarden’ this year, as well.  He has an infectious personality that people are drawn to, and he is genuinely funny!  He has shown such a heart to obey God, and, now that he’s more comfortable with the idea, loves to pray for dinner and before bed.  We love our Noah!

March D.T.

March??? March?!?  Seriously?  The days of quiet(er) winter months are already over, and we are heading full-bore into sports and lawn care season.  Bye-bye weekends!  I think God has sent the rain as a way of forcing us to rest before a very busy few months!

I was thrilled to find out our Design Team package would consist of beautiful papers by Jenni Bowlin, as well as TONS of  GRUNGEBOARD, Because what can I say…

I put this little plaque together to (hopefully) put on display at Mystic Paper near the Grungeboard.  I love this stuff, and wanted to give people some ideas of how to use it.  So, from left to right are the techniques I put together-

1- Paint, Sanded to show detail, accented with Distress Powder

2- Stamped with Staz-on Ink, Brushed with Distress Ink

3- White paint, pressed into Distress ink to show detail (dots)

4- (my favorite)  Adhere printed paper face down with Matte medium, then tear away when the glue is nearly dry.  The words leave a ‘shadow’ on the Grungeboard!  Cool!

5-Paint, Glossy Accents, Sprinkle with Perfect Pearls.  This looks like stars in the night sky!

Here are the papers I received:

Can you believe the fun stuff I get to play with?!  The ladies at Mystic Paper have been so generous!  I love the Jenni Bowlin paper, it looks like the decor in a girls room from the 1950′s who likes cowbows…  Does that make sense?  No, just me?  Oh, well, either way it was very fun to use.  Our assignment this month was to do one Scrapbook layout and 2 cards.  Make sure to check back to see those, and jump over to Holly and Sherri‘s blogs to see their goodies!

Also, a head’s up- (this is so exciting)  later this week I will be doing a GIVEAWAY!  It’s a local product I love called Herb ‘n Organics.  They have been great to work with, and I love their product so I can’t wait to share!  Stay tuned!
